NY, Here We Come!

NY
We just booked a short trip to NY, the three of us. We'll be there for a few days in July and are so excited to catch up with friends!

Fun with Puffs
Yeah, we have fun at the baby's expense, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him...

Brian's Milestones
Brian is developing so quickly, and it is the most amazing, fun thing to watch! In the past week, he's learned how to clap, bounce, and stand up :)

First Get-Away
Brian and I are taking a quick get-away to Sundara. We're going to have a full 24 hours of relaxation, by the pool, with massages. Ahhhh. Thanks, Annette, for babysitting!

$350 Cab Ride

Last week was a crazy week...

Wednesday:
I work from home, and it is important that I see my team in person maybe a half dozen times a year. I wanted to go for a couple of days but child care wasn't an easy thing to arrange (Brian works extremely early mornings so we need take the baby somewhere overnight - my mom just had surgery and can't lift the baby and Brian's mom has a busy work schedule). Anyway, I ended up going to the NYC office for just a day. Got up at 3:45am and was scheduled to land back in Madison at 10:30pm. Ended up getting delayed at LGA and missed my connecting flight, the last one of the night, from Chicago to Madison. Tired and just wanting to go home, I could spend $300 on a hotel room (I had no clothes, no toothbrush, just the clothes on my back) or $350 to take a car service. I took the car service. Glad to be back but so, so tired...

Thursday:
Brian ends up taking the morning off of work so that I can get some much needed sleep. I have such a great husband :) Pick up my Grandma Edna from the Madison airport. Forget to pick up my CSA veggies and eggs.

Friday:
Work - extremely busy with back to back meetings for most of the day and feel like I'm falling behind... Housekeeper/babysitter, Felicitas, couldn't come to work because she had some dental work done... My dad ended up pinch-hitting for me, bless him. However, it wasn't that easy. At one point I go up to check on him and the baby and he says "the baby spit up on the floor (beautiful hardwood). I wiped it up with my hot coffee and a newspaper. It is all clean." I looked at him with shock. "What?! It worked!" OK, I'll take what I can get right now. Back to work. Picked up my CSA veggies and eggs after work. Made a great caesar salad for dinner.

Saturday:
Jennie and PJ were in town for the weekend. Zoe graduated from highschool! I dropped the baby off at my mom's (since my Grandma can help with him) and headed to the farmers' market. It was such a gorgeous day! Worked for several hours alongside Brian. Jennie and PJ came down and worked too. We had a great time. I rushed home to get ready for Zoe's graduation and helped run some errands for my brother and mom (notoriously last minute...). Enjoyed the graduation and really enjoyed the beef tenderloin I ate at Magnus for her celebratory dinner. Went to bed early.

Sunday:
Helped Brian put together a cupcake order in the morning and then headed to Zoe's graduation party. Lounged around in my brother's backyard and ate lots of Panamanian food and cake. Took a nap. Went home.

The highlight of the week?
Brian started standing up! He gets up next to something sturdy (in this case, it was the bathtub and then the crib), gets on his knees, reaches up, and then just pulls himself up to standing! He was soooo excited. Awesome. I need to get it on video :)

Bubbles

Time is flying by!  Can't believe it is June already...

This past week a few things of note (at least in my life) happened...
  • Had our last Growing Kids God's Way small group through Metro Believers Church.  We'll miss the group over the summer (although we'll see everyone at church on Sundays).  The small group has been really encouraging and we're learning a lot.
  • Enjoyed the farmers' market on Saturday.  I dropped the baby off at my Mom's at 7:30am and headed to work.  First I stopped at the bakery and helped roll some cheese bread.  Then I headed to the market and just observed and hung out with my dad for a bit.  It got busy, though, so I jumped in to help sell breads (Brian's new bread stand and bread line-up is awesome!).  My mom dropped off the baby at around 11:30am.  When he woke up I stopped working.  I had brought a picnic blanket, so we sat out on the lawn across from our stand.  Cora and the boys came, as well as Annette.  We ended up walking the entire market.  I bought stuff for dinner for the rest of the week - I love the market!  Saturday night we were supposed to join an old high school friend for drinks, but Brian had been up for almost 48 hours at that point, so we just got frozen custard and went to bed early.
  • Had fun with bubbles with Brian for the first time!

  • Got some cute pics with me and Brian - we don't have too many

  • Got some funny videos of Brian crawling (aka doing the worm)

Memorial Day Weekend

We had seven friends come to visit for the long weekend from our church in NYC.  Had a great time!  We lounged around the house a lot, spent Saturday at the farmers' market, ate a lot, laughed a lot... I felt very honored to have everyone here...  I didn't take too many pics but here are a few...
